Shaun Pollock is a retired professional cricketer from South Africa and he is one of the greatest bowlers that the country has produces. He was born on the 16th of September in the year 1971. He has been a prolific performer for his country and has represented his country in all formats of this beautiful game. Pollock is mainly a seam bowler but he has also been very successful with the bat. He was a very successful batsman in the number 7 or number 8 positions. He has made some important contributions and has bailed his side out of many uncomfortable positions. De did not average well with the bat but he had a good strike rate and chipped in whenever his side needed some runs desperately. He has always been a thinking cricketer and has analyzed the scenario of the game very well. He led the national side form 2000 to 2003 following the suspension of the present captain Cronje. He did a good job in boosting the morale of the side and he was later replaced by Graeme Smith.
Pollock had the opportunity to play alongside the greatest bowlers of all times, that is Alan Donald. He got to learn a lot from this legendary bowler and when the two of them were playing simultaneously at their peak then the South African bowling attack became the most potent in the world. They have almost single handedly destroyed all the major batting lineups of all the major cricket playing national at one time and it was only when Donald retired that the potency of the South African attack slackened.
Pollock has enjoyed top position in the ICC world ranking of bowlers and all-rounders in both tests and one day internationals. He has the best economy figures among all the bowlers who have crossed the 300 figure mark and he is also part of that elite club who has taken 400 wickets in their international career.
